Bluetooth Reader Troubleshooting - General Guidelines

General Bluetooth Troubleshooting - No reader connected

If the iPad is not connected to a Bluetooth reader, you will see an orange bar across the top of the screen.

Below are a few things you can check to troubleshoot the issue.

Is the reader on and connected to power?

Double-check all your connection points for power. Sometimes connectors can come loose. Be sure to check that the power cable in the dock is also connected correctly.

(re)Connecting a Bluetooth reader

  1. Tap the orange bar at the top of the screen, or tap the Chexology Settings gear on the top-left of the home screen and tap Accessories.
  2.  Make sure the Use Bluetooth Reader toggle is switched on.
  3. Tap the Bluetooth reader that matches the name of your reader in the DEVICES section.

(Note: the reader's name should be labeled on the reader. If not, it will appear in small letters on the bottom of the device.)

  1. If you see a Bluetooth Pairing Request dialog pop up, press the physical pairing button on the reader (if it has one) and tap Pair on the iPad.

  1. If the reader does not connect, toggle the Use Bluetooth Reader off, then switch it back on. Make sure the reader is powered on and in pair mode.

Are other iPads trying to connect to the same reader?

If your location has multiple kiosks, check to make sure that the reader you are trying to pair to your iPad is actually the reader on the same kiosk instead of a different reader nearby.

Connecting an IPC reader to a different iPad

It is important to make sure each IPC Bluetooth reader is only paired with one iPad at a time.

If you want to connect a reader to a new (or different) iPad, you need to Forget the Bluetooth reader on the old iPad or it will try to reconnect and cause issues.

Tap each step to see detailed sub-steps.

Step 1. Forget the device in the Chexology settings

  1. Go to Chexology App Settings → Accessories.
  2. Tap the ⓘ for the device that you want to forget.
  3. Tap “Forget This Device”

Step 2. Forget the device in the iPad settings

  1. Go to the iPad settings.

  2. Tap Bluetooth.
  3. Tap the ⓘ for the device you want to forget, then also forget this device from the iPad settings.

  4. Tap Forget This Device and choose Forget Device on the confirmation popup.

Note: It is important to forget the device in both the Chexology app and the iOS settings or you will not be able to connect any other IPC reader to the iPad!
