Creating a Chexology account
To start using Chexology as quickly as possible, you can create a Chexology account before your hardware is delivered.
- Go to the sign up page and fill out the form.
- Click Continue and add you billing information on the next page.
- Click Sign Up to finish.

What's in the box?
Each Chexology kiosk is pre-assembled and packaged with care. A typical order will include the following items for each kiosk:
- A pre-assembled Kiosk
- Metal Stand
- iPad
- NFC Reader
- Cabling and cable management
- USB Hub
- Two Allen wrenches
- Torx T15 Tamper Proof Hex Key
- 5/64" Hex Key
- All tags that have been purchased

Setting up your Apple Account
An Apple Account (previously called Apple ID) is required to download the Chexology App from the App Store. Please follow the instructions on Apple's website to create a new Apple Account.
Pro Tip:
If you already have an Apple Account because you own Apple products like an iPhone or Mac, you can use that account to access the Apple App Store on the iPad, but we do not recommend it for privacy and security reasons.
Instead, we recommend that you use a dedicated Apple Account for your business and coat check operations. To do this, you will need to use an email address that is not already tied to your personal Apple Account such as a business email.
Installing Chexology on the iPad
After successfully creating an Apple Account, on your iPad:
- Go to the App Store
- Search for Chexology
- Tap Get.
- You may need to re-enter your Apple Account user name and password.
Note: Do not install the Chexology Kiosk app which is different and no longer supported for new customers.
Logging in to the Chexology App
- Open the Chexology app on the iPad.
- Enter your user name and password.
Chexology App Settings
- After Logging in, tap the Chexology Settings gear on the top-left of the home screen and tap Accessories.
- Make sure the Use Bluetooth Reader toggle is switched on.
- Tap the Bluetooth reader that matches the name of your reader in the DEVICES section.
(Note: the reader's name should be labeled on the reader. If not, it will appear in small letters on the bottom of the device.)
- If you see a Bluetooth Pairing Request dialog pop up, press the physical pairing button on the reader (if it has one) and tap Pair on the iPad.

Adding tags to coat hangers
- Insert the arrow band into the tag opening, arrow side out. Pull the circle end of the band halfway through the hole.
- Hold the tag against the neck of the hanger and pull the arrow through the band circle.
- Make sure the coat tag is facing towards you with the tag number right side up as shown in the image.
Pro-Tip:
Stretch out the arrow bands to loosen them!
