Who is this help guide for?
This help guide is for managers, owners, or IT administrators who wish to set up an iPad as a self-service kiosk where guests can request their items.
Step 1: Make an Item Type Requestable by Guests
In order for certain items to be requestable, you need to first enable ALLOW GUEST CLAIM REQUESTS for that item type in the Item Details page.
- Log in to the Chexology Admin Dashboard.
- Click Items & Prices in the sidebar.

- Click Edit for the item you want to make requestable.

- Click ALLOW GUEST CLAIM REQUESTS so it is check on.
Step 2: Set the Guest Claim Request Settings
- Click Location settings in the sidebar.

- Create a PIN in the Guest Claim Request Settings.

Note: You will use this PIN to lock and unlock the ability to log out of the guest request page.
- Right-click and copy the link address for the Sign in link.

Note: In Google Chrome choose Copy Link Address.
- Paste the link into a Safari page on your iPad.

Note: This link includes a long string of numbers and letters known as a UUID (Unique User ID) that is specific to your venue. If you click on the link, it will open a web page that no longer shows that unique ID. This is why you need to copy the link as shown above and paste it into the iPad.
Pro Tip: If you log in to the Dashboard on the iPad, you can open the link directly. Otherwise, if you are logged in with the same Apple ID on the computer and the iPad, you can copy from the computer and paste directly into the iPad. Or, on a Mac, you can paste the link to the notes app and AirDrop it to the iPad.
Step 3: Log in using your PIN
- Use the same PIN you created earlier to sign in to the guest self-service kiosk.

- Tap Sign in.
Step 4: Save the Kiosk Page as a Web App on your tablet
- Tap the Share button in Safari.

- Tap the round three dot More button.

- Tap Add to Home Screen.

- Here's what the Add to Home Screen options look like.

(Optional) Rename the Web App to match your location instead of “Kiosk - Chexology.”

IMPORTANT: Make sure Open as Web App is enabled.

- Tapp Add.

- You should now see an icon for the web app. Tap it to open the web app.

- Here is what the self-service item request kiosk looks like. The difference between the web-app and the web page is that the web app has a black bar across the top of the screen (instead of the address bar).

- Guests should now be able to use the kiosk to request their items such as cars for valet, luggage, or coats.
Logging out of the Kiosk
If, you need to log out of the self-service kiosk:
- Tap the three line ☰ menu bar on the top left corner of the iPad.

- Enter your Pin and tap Unlock Kiosk.

- Tap Logout.

- Note: You will need your UUID to log back in.
Adding a custom Branding Image
If you want to have a branded screen, please send a copy of your branding image in horizontal format to help@chexology.com.
The branding image should be:
- High Quality
- Transparent PNG
- 1600 pixels wide maximum
- 200 pixels tall maximum
